Millet

Millet, a grain found in health food stores, has been nicknamed the “fertility wonder grain” on the internet -- although every internet article on the subject links to a single source quote without any clinical data. However that doesn’t mean it is incorrect, but rather that it has been difficult to find any clinical studies that support millet as more beneficial to fertility than other healthy whole grains like amaranth, brown rice, quinoa, and buckwheat. Millet is a whole grain, and it’s wheat- and gluten-free. It helps balance blood sugar and insulin levels, therefore keeping your hormones in balance. It is rich in fiber, amino acids, vitamin E and B complex, as well as potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, and iron. If you have thyroid problems, you must alternate millet with other grains; millet contains a compound that interferes with the production of thyroid hormones. Millet tastes best mixed in with oatmeal or quinoa or other grains.
